Free Training Opportunity Through NIMH Study
We are currently offering this training for free to a limited number of participants as part of a NIMH grant to study new methods of disseminating training on empirically based treatments such as CBT. The training consists of two parts: the web-based tutorial covering the CBT concepts, followed by four live remote individual training sessions where you will conduct CBT with a mock patient while being observed and given feedback via videoconference. In addition, there are 3 ‘testing’ sessions, where you conduct CBT with a mock patient (the trainer, Dr. Kate Taylor role playing a patient). These would be done prior starting the training, after taking the on line tutorial, and after the live training. These are done to evaluate the relative impact of the tutorial alone vs. the tutorial plus live training in improving your skills. All live training can be arranged at a time that is convenient for you.
The goal of the study is to see whether remote, web-based training is effective in training clinicians on how to do CBT therapy. The tutorial contains both general information applicable to conducting CBT for anxiety disorders, as well disorder specific information on how to apply these techniques for specific anxiety disorders.
The online tutorial is about 7.5 hours, which you would do at your own pace, over the course of several weeks. You will receive 7.5 CE credits for completing the tutorial. Following the online tutorial, we would schedule the live training sessions, at a time that is convenient for you. A certificate of completion will also be sent to you upon completing the training. Since this is a research study with limited enrollment, we ask that you consider carefully whether you have the time available to invest in completing the training before agreeing to participate.
